The above map provides a visual of Tacoma parcels that are located inside a floodplain, and a second set of parcels that are at risk of flood damage during heavy rainfall. This second set of parcels (a.k.a. flood zone parcels) are within a 500 foot buffer of all floodplains.

For this exercise, I used ModelBuilder to create a model that (1) identifies parcels for a target area that are located inside a floodplain, and (2) identifies a second set of parcels that are a flood risk after several heavy rain events. 

ModelBuilder is an application in ArcGIS for creating models. This model that the user creates is a sequence of geoprocessing operations. The below is an excerpt of the model that I built. I aslo prepared metadata for this model. Refer to the below PDF.
