Using LiDAR data to Analyse Mean Building Height

LiDAR is shorthand for ‘Light Detection and Ranging.’ LiDAR is an active remote sensing technology that converts pulses of laser light into measurements of landscape elevation (Shuckman & Renslow, 2014). It can be used to measure the elevation of bare earth (i.e., the terrain) or the elevation of objects on the terrain (e.g., vegetation or buildings). The product of a LiDAR scan is a 3D point cloud.
